Presidio Archaeology Camp returns July 7-11, 2025 (Mon-Fri, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm) at El Presidio de Santa Barbara State Historic Park. Youths, ages 10-15, will learn how archaeologists unearth clues that help piece together the history of Santa Barbara. Participants will receive instruction on excavation techniques, artifact identification & processing, archaeological drawing, and mapping – learning from professionals who are dedicated to making history engaging and accessible. At the end of this week-long summer camp, participants will understand how information is recovered and maintained so it can be used to reconstruct the past. Presidio Archaeology Camp provides a space for young aspiring archaeologists to dig in, get their hands dirty, and uncover hidden artifacts from the past!
