On Saturday, April 5, 2025, the Hispanic Genealogical Research Center (HGRC) of New Mexico will host a presentation about the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro (CARTA), to be given by Michael Romero and Angelica Sanchez Clark. CARTA was the “royal highway” from Central Mexico to Santa Fe, New Mexico, a route of trade and cultural exchange that was initially a network of Indigenous trails and later became a more defined pathway and the principal avenue of communication and commerce between the northern Spanish frontier south to Mexico City. Romero and Clark will highlight elements of food, religion, music, literature and some of the CARTA trails. This presentation will be held at the National Hispanic Cultural Center (in the Salon Ortega) at 1701 4th Street SW in Albuquerque, NM from 10:30 to noon.
