The “All-Aboard-the-Bus” Student Field Trip Program is finally seeing fourth-grade classrooms return to the Missions! This year the California Missions Foundation (CMF) awarded 23 schools field trip grants so that 1,797 students from Los Angeles, Monterey, Santa Barbara and San Diego counties could visit Missions San Juan Bautista, La Purisima, San Fernando, San Juan Capistrano, San Luis Rey and San Diego. Students had a wonderful time at the missions and some teachers said that they would not have been able to attend the field trip to the mission if it was not for the grant from CMF.
CMF’s Virtual Mission Program continued this year as well with 23,186 students viewing the program from 42 counties across the state. This year’s program focused on Junipero Serra and Mission Santa Barbara. Students were able to see behind-the-scenes areas at the Mission including the bell tower and the crypt. The crypt was a big hit!
