The Anza Society’s accessible park trail project in Tucson has a new name – “La Expedición de Anza, 1775 (LEA).” This outdoor cultural history park depicts the life of a group of 240 people who passed through Tucson in 1775 on their way to California, where they established the city of San Francisco. Nearing completion of Phase I, this unique project aims to create an inclusive, place-based park while improving existing site infrastructure. LEA is located adjacent to the Arizona State School for the Deaf and Blind (ASDB) and will become an outdoor classroom for ASDB students and staff, and an educational resource to the community of Tucson. The Anza Society, however, is in need of further funding to see this project to its fruition.
