The Anza Trail Foundation announces their upcoming Anza250 Lecture Series with archaeologist Dr. Aaron Wright, of Archaeology Southwest. This free public event begins on Friday, October 24, 2025, in Nogales and ends on Saturday, November 29, 2025, in Yuma. The Anza250 Lecture Series commemorates the 250th anniversary of the Anza expedition (1775-1776), when over 240 Spanish colonists journeyed from Sinaloa, Mexico, through present-day Arizona and California, to colonize San Francisco. Dr. Wright will focus on how the Anza expedition utilized pre-existing Indigenous trail infrastructure and knowledge to successfully reach their destination. This program was made possible by a generous grant from Arizona Humanities. For information on dates, times, and locations, click on the flyer link below.
