The 61st Anniversary New Mexico Genealogical Society Conference will be held virtually on August 27 and 28, 2021, with keynote speakers and multiple sessions each day with Q & A opportunities. Sessions will also be available for streaming during September. Friday keynote speaker will be Estevan Rael-Galvez, Ph.D. who will talk about the Manitos Community Memory Project and share interesting stories about several families and places. Saturday’s keynote speaker is Judy G. Russell, JD, CG, CGL, whose presentation is titled “Laws of the Indies: Spanish Colonial Laws and the Records They Produced.” Enjoy a number of presentations covering information on early New Mexico (NM) families, what DNA is revealing about Indian and Spanish connections, migration in and out of NM during the colonial period, common law dower compared to civil law dowry, and lots more.
